Staffordshire Elephant c.1830 - Joanne's Personal Collection
Here's another unusual inherited item from my personal collection...
The East Indian figured man is quite a dandy in his stripe trousers and cap. Sadly the slain tiger draped over the elephant back is a sobering addition. In 1830, Staffordshire had no problem with the issue of good taste or endangered species. There is some wear due to age as you would expect. No breaks or repairs, and finely detailed with a few spots of missing pigment of black color on elephant.
